| Visual Training Aid
For E-On UK - 2004
The 2004 E-On Health & Safety plan identified the need for
a visual training aid on high voltage and low voltage switchgear.
Local operation of electrical switchgear can be infrequent so
the purpose of the visual training aid was to assist Authorised
Persons when carrying out potentially dangerous local switching
operations.
ReelTake Films were commissioned to film at twelve power stations
around the UK to produce a visual training aid on switchgear.
The programmes also took the opportunity to look round some of
the fixtures and fittings of the circuit breakers, which are not
normally seen by the operator. Other operational procedures like
“testing for dead”, demarcation in a sub-station and
pylon work are also covered.
The final collection of DVDs which contained over six hours of
site specific instruction covered a whole array of manufacturer’s
switchgear including: 132kv switchgear, Alstom 33kv switchgear,
Whipp & Bourne 11kv switchgear as well as various low voltage
switchgear manufacturers.
